BJ TIC TAC (“TICTAC”)

This little powerhouse was a canine to be reckoned with on the track. Despite her 60-pound size, TicTac was determined to carry on the tradition of her very successful dad (a Wheeling Downs track star).  In 205 turns around the track, she finished “in the money” 56% of the time.  She’s a very personable gal with big tipped ears and a cute white butt – just like the back-end of a deer.  She was adopted 1½ months ago but was recently returned to us.  TicTac would like a home without cats or small dogs. WW’S FONDUE (“FONDUE”)

Fondue is a petite gal who, in her 88 races, was fairly successful, being “in the money” almost half the time and accumulating 2.0 performance points in the process.  Following re-homing by AAGA last April, she was recently returned to us because she did not see eye to eye with the resident pug. However, she lived amicably with the cat. A sweet and friendly girl, Fondue deserves a second chance at a forever home.

WW’S BLACK PEARL (“PEARL”)

A very friendly girl, Pearl is most unique and quite the character.  First of all, she is an unusual color —  black brindle. She has tufts of golden-brown fur very lightly scattered throughout her black coat.  Secondly, despite her small size (56#), she is “high flying”.  She jumps the inside pet gate at AAGA as well as the 5-foot fence outside.  What’s more, she has been known to pick up relatively heavy objects and carry them over the jumps with her.  And lastly, when it’s time to eat, she likes to lie down and have you place her dish between her paws.  Maybe she was “spoiled” at the track because she was a very good racer.  Over her career she was “in the money” 56% of the time and earned 4.0 performance points.

DE’S JOKER (“JOKER”)

This very red girl is petite (57#) but rather tall.  Joker has those beautiful naturally mascara’d eyes.  Retired after just a couple dozen races, she is a happy, friendly young lady.

RJ’S ROMAN (“ROMAN”)

Roman is a large (RWt 80#) impressive-looking boy with distinctive floppy ears who comes from strong Irish stock on his mom’s side. He was a very successful racer at the Dubuque, Bluffs Run, and Jacksonville tracks.  In fact, he raced to the full retirement age of 5, finishing 1st in his very last race. He is a very friendly boy who surprised our vet’s tech by climbing right up into her lap!

GT SHANETT (“ALICE”)

Alice is unusual in that BOTH her parents were exceptional racers.  Her dad was a 2012 All American and her mom was a 2011 All American.  But, alas, Alice just didn’t cotton to the sport.  In the middle of her third race, for no reason, she just quit.  Instead, she is a real lover and a flirt.  She will come close, look straight into your face and then rapidly blink her eyes.  It’s downright adorable!

IVANS FORCE (“FORCE”)

This good-looking, good-sized fellow (racing weight – 77 pounds) with the intense eyes completed just short of 100 turns around the Jacksonville track over the course of his racing career.  Although he never reached the status of his famous dad (a 2009 All American), he adequately earned his keep.  Now one month into retirement, he is enjoying the easy life at Greys’Land.  He is well-behaved, cooperative and personable.

BLU TOO ON DECK (“DECKER”)

Decker can be identified by the perfect black diamond right on the top of his head.  Fueled by a powerful pedigree, he began his career by winning some major races that quickly earned him 5.0 performance points.  Then an injury ended that successful run.  At first it was hoped that, through proper treatment and intensive therapy, he could eventually be returned to the track. Ultimately, however, it was decided that, despite a great medical outcome,  that wouldn’t be in his best interests, and he was officially retired at the ripe old age of 2½. Decker is a handsome, happy, active boy — a typical “cow dog”.

WW’S PORCELAIN (“PORCELAIN”)

In a career of just 19 races, Porcelain placed “in the money” 50% of the time.  What makes this rather remarkable is that she was born blind in one eye!  This precious plucky pup is super sweet, enthusiastic, and so endearing.  She just loves to cuddle.

BY GOLD RADER (“RADER”)

Rader is our current in-house racing star.  In his 133 times around the tracks at Palm Beach and Jacksonville, he won a number of important races to earn him 8.0 performance points.  He has a record-setting father and an Irish grandfather. Rader was rehomed by AAGA 3 months ago and was recently returned to us through no fault of his own.  (His adopter suffered from allergies he attributed to the dog.)  Rader is a handsome, friendly boy who loves attention.

FANATIC HURICANE (“HURICANE”)

Check out this guy’s photo shoot.  Doesn’t he look like the most gorgeous show dog? His coat often looks more deep chocolate than black.  Despite his “raging storm” name (yes, it’s misspelled, but that’s the way he was registered, so we’re stuck with it), Huricane is quiet, well-behaved, and lovable. He only ran 11 races – just couldn’t develop the skill of weaving in and out of a bunch of running Greyhounds without getting hit. His sister was successfully rehomed by AAGA 2 months ago.

MADE IN AMERICA (“AMERICA”)

America is a classic black beauty with a powerful pedigree. She didn’t race much – just 5 races – but gave it all up to become a Greyhound mommy.  Now that her pups have turned pro and are racing on the tracks, she is ready for full retirement to a comfy couch in a forever home.

NATE SOLDER (“NATE”)

Most of the male “cow dogs” (black and whites) that come to AAGA tend to be big, bouncy, and “goofy” in personality. Nate, on the other hand, is on the small side, rather quiet, and a bit shy.  But he’s an endearing fellow who definitely earned his keep while racing, chalking up a 53% success rate in nearly 100 races. He made his last turn around the track September 22nd.

CRV’S STAFFORD (“STAFFORD”)

This adorable shiny little package—racing weight 51 pounds!—started out as a very promising racer.  In just 71 races she earned 4.0 professional points and brought home a purse 54% of the time.  Then a couple of tough “hits” on the track forced her trainer to place her in retirement. Stafford spent a few months in a home in Florida but just wasn’t comfortable with the constant attention of a rambunctious 2-year-old child. She was returned to the track and is now in Atlanta. She is a sweet girl, a bit quiet and reserved, who really knows her name and likes to greet visitors, hoping one of them will give her a second chance at a forever home.
