CBJ MAGIC LEXE (“LEXE”)

When Lexe first came to AAGA, we described her as a sweet girl who nuzzles and give kisses. Recently she came back to AAGA a year after being adopted, her owner stating that Lexe was not tolerant of her small kids. We find that Lexe is a bit of a diva who warns every new dog she meets of her presence. After that initial encounter, however, she is perfectly fine and accepting. She does enjoy meeting visitors. She will go up and affectionately greet them but then return to lying on her bed the rest of their stay. Since most people are looking for a dog that immediately interacts with them, this action keeps her from ending up on their “want” list.  Lexe is obviously looking for someone special.  Could that be you?

PAT C ALAMA (“ALAMA”)

Alama is a big handsome boy who arrived at AAGA in November of 2018 following an unremarkable racing career of just 13 races.  He was almost immediately adopted but then returned to us a few months later because of severe separation anxiety.  Figuring he was not happy living as an only dog, we arranged for his re-adoption into a home with 3 other Greyhounds.  Not surprisingly, Alama’s separation anxiety disappeared completely, and he is now a happy, active member of that Greyhound pack.

BOGEY MONSTER (“BOGEY”)

When Bogey’s aging owner decided after 7 years to move to a senior community in Florida that didn’t allow dogs, Bogey, now a senior as well (but still quite healthy and active), found himself in need of a new home. Fortunately, his veterinarian kindly volunteered to give him that home, and AAGA arranged the adoption.  The latest report is that Bogey is happily living out his final years with her son at vet school in Athens.

TR’S TEDDY (“TEDDY”)

Even though he’s a boy, you have to describe Teddy as beautiful. He has the loveliest muted brindle and white coloring (like a dilute tortie cat). Despite an impressive pedigree, he never raced. Teddy has a quiet, sweet personality.

CAPTAIN CROOK (“CROOK”)

For all of you Greyhound lovers that have dreamed of adopting a Greyhound puppy, here’s your chance.  Crook was born the runt of the litter and with a 90-degree kink in the last third of his tail.  He is unregistered, somewhat timid, and never set foot on a track. He has never been leash trained, won’t even allow a collar. (We have him in a harness that he tolerates well.)  But despite his challenges, he is a sweet and happy boy that, with time and patience, will assuredly become a loyal home companion.

HOGTECH BOURBON (“BOURBON”)

Bourbon is a spunky girl with large ears she can work like semaphores.  Her racing career consisted of 143 races with a 52% success rate.  Bourbon is very outgoing and friendly, but she has a very high prey drive so would do best in a home with no cats or small dogs.

Note: Carl decided to keep.

TNT CHAIN SMOKER (“SMOKER”)

Irish blood flows through the veins of this good-looking guy, identified by his dark face and heavy deep brindled markings. Smoker raced at Flagler, Mardi Gras, Naples-Ft Myers, and Orange Park (Jacksonville) tracks, tallying up 63 races with OK results. With his low-key, well-behaved demeanor, he is probably better suited to being a couch potato than a racer.

DUTCH REAGAN (“REAGAN”)

A strikingly handsome fellow with pretty tipped ears, Reagan chalked up a commendable racing career, completing 110 races with an in-the-money success rate of 63% and earning 8.5 performance points.  He is confident, very friendly, and intelligent.  He can open any gate, any door (letting out all the other Greyhounds in the process!).

TNT NIRVANA

Nirvana is a good-sized (77.5#) shiny black boy with just a bit of white on his muzzle, chest and two feet.  Although he can boast a star-studded pedigree, he ran his 98 races with just moderate success.  He is friendly, quiet and likes to lean on you a lot.

DUTCH LORNA (“LORNA”)

Lorna is a lovely, very petite youngster, what we call a Tuxedo Black (white blaze, muzzle, chest, feet, and tail tip).  She is smart, quite active, curious about everything, and affectionate – loves to jump up and give kisses. For whatever reason, she never raced.

SHOW IT ALL (“SHOW”)

Just like his name, Show is “all show”!  He is that rare “gray” Greyhound (we call them blues).  He is super sweet and very playful. He loves people and his tail is always wagging. (We suspect he’s been ultra spoiled since the day he was born.)  Show is an 82-pounder with Irish racers in his background and 42 races to his credit.

HEAVENLY DORA (“DORA”)

Dora is aDORAble!  We all fell in love with her on arrival. A real charmer, she wastes no time cuddling up and trying to get your attention.  She was also the first to grab the recliner as her special spot.  Dora raced at Tri-State and Jacksonville, completing 88 races at a 63% “in the money” rate.

DUTCH AVA (“AVA”)

This strikingly lovely little (57#) lady can boast of a very strong pedigree.  In her 87 races, she was “in the money” 54% of the time.  Ava is quiet and a bit timid – not as “pushy” as some of the other girls.  She definitely likes her toys.

HEAVENLY CAUSE (“CAUSE”)

Australian blood runs through Cause’s veins.  He is a very friendly handsome kisser with those gorgeous naturally mascara’d eyes.  Because he did not appear to be that motivated to race, it was decided to retire him after just 5 races. This decision should be a “win” for the lucky adopter who gives this pup a forever home.

AMERICAN MADE (“ROMAN”)

Roman turned 3 years old the day he arrived at AAGA.  An endearing and well-behaved guy with pretty ears and a constantly wagging tail, he smiles a lot and might try to climb in your lap. His 38 career races were run at the Derby Lane and Southland tracks.

PAT C COMBO (“COMBO”)

This shiny black youngster is such a love.  She knows her name and will come running to jump up and give you kisses.  She even has been known to sit. At this point she does appear to favor women a bit more than men; perhaps she had a female trainer! Despite having a sire with the highest career earnings ever, Combo completed just 13 lackadaisical races before she was retired.  With her cuddly nature, she is certain to quickly find a forever home. (Note that she can switch her ears back and forth like a semaphore!)

LK’S SILVERSTONE (“FREDA”)

Freda is a good-looking, active 62-pounder who knows her name and feels she should be the first one in or out the door. This is not surprising, since she completed 57% of her 148 career races “in the money”, earning 1.5 Performance Points in the process.  Freda is an outgoing happy girl who recently celebrated her 4th birthday shortly after her arrival at AAGA.

LEE CASH (“CASH”)

When Cash first arrived, he was a bit timid and shy, apparently somewhat overwhelmed by his move to Atlanta. Previously, he had “under his belt” just 13 races with minimal success. Within days he had fallen in love with AAGA staff and was the most eager to welcome a familiar face.  No one “smiles” bigger or more often than Cash!  Although still hesitant with strangers, he is certain to bond closely in a short period of time with a loving and patient adopter.

JA’S SPIDERETTA (“SPIDER”)

It is very hard for Spider to go unnoticed due to her striking black and white markings and intense black-rimmed eyes. She is very sweet and friendly and sometimes “pushy” for attention. Her racing career consisted of just 2 dozen races. Spider would probably be happiest in a home with another Greyhound.

FLY BREADWINNER (“WINNER”)

Boasting a powerful pedigree, Winner lived up to his name by successfully finishing his 104 races “in the money” 57% of the time.  He is quite handsome with distinctive brindle markings. Winner is a friendly, quiet cooperative boy.
